Laurie and Kevin Sharp started Woolpets in 2007. Laurie has always had a passion for creating since she was a little girl and made things for her dolls. She has a love for all types of art, photography, knitting, painting, and more, but she also has a love for children which lead her to become a Waldorf kindergarten teacher. During her training, she learned all about dry or needle felting with wool. When Laurie started her own Waldorf inspired preschool in 2001, it included storytelling with puppet shows and she liked to make her own puppets, she started sending the puppets home with the children and their parents began to ask her to teach them how to make puppets themselves. After searching for instructional kits, Laurie decided to make them herself which created Woolpets. The first kits that Laurie and Kevin created came from the wool of their own sheep Hazel and Merna. Woolpets now has thirty-eight needle felting kits, they aim to teach the foundation of needle felting as well as three-dimensional sculpting with wool.
