Kapla was invented in 1987 by Tom van der Bruggen, he had always dreamt about building a castle and one day he decided to make that dream come true. While putting together the scale drawings for the castle he began to use wooden blocks to see what the structure would look like, after being disappointed in the capabilities of these blocks he set out to invent his own. Tom van der Bruggen then invented a plank based on the progressions of the uneven numbers 1:3:5, with these identical planks you can build more precisely with more stability. With the Kapla planks, kids of all ages, including adults can create all types of things from buildings to animals and anything they can imagine.
